Connecting your own domain to your store

Every store starts on a free vendoragenie.com address. Here is how to move it to your own.

What you need

• A domain you own (for example a .com.au registered through any Australian registrar).
• Access to its DNS settings at your registrar or DNS host.

Steps

1. In your store, open the domain settings and enter your domain.
2. Add the DNS record Vendora Genie shows you, at your DNS host. It is a single record.
3. Vendora Genie checks the record and issues an HTTPS certificate automatically. While it waits the domain shows as Awaiting DNS; it is re-checked automatically, so you do not need to keep the page open.

What changes when it is verified

• Your domain becomes the store's main address. Visitors to the old vendoragenie.com address are forwarded to the same page on your domain.
• Search engines are given your domain as the one true address of every page, and your sitemap lists your domain.
• Link previews on social media and messaging apps show your store's name, description and images on your domain.

Until the certificate is live the store keeps working on its vendoragenie.com address, so there is no gap in which the store is unreachable.
