Payments, GST and shipping for an Australian online store
How money, tax and parcels work on a Vendora Genie store — what is automatic and what you set.
Payments through Stripe Connect
- You connect your own Stripe account from Settings → Payments. Charges are made on your account and Stripe pays out to your bank account on its usual schedule.
- The store's currency comes from your Stripe account. For an Australian Stripe account that is AUD.
- Refunds are issued from the order page in your dashboard and go back through Stripe.
- A store does not accept orders until its Stripe account is able to take charges.

GST
- Prices are entered and displayed including GST. Checkout never adds tax on top.
- Each order records the GST contained in the amount charged, and the shopper's order page and receipt show it as "Includes GST".
- Your store settings hold your ABN and whether you are registered for GST.
Vendora Genie records GST; it does not give tax advice or lodge anything for you. The ATO's GST pages and your accountant are the authority on what applies to your business.
Shipping
Zones and rates
- Zones are matched by postcode prefix, state or country. New stores start with metro, regional and remote Australian zones and an international zone.
- A rate can be flat, free over an order value you set (with a charge below it), or charged by weight.
- Each rate has a minimum and maximum delivery estimate in days, shown to shoppers when they choose shipping.
Tracking and Australia Post
- When you mark an order shipped you add the carrier and tracking number; the shopper sees it on their order page and in their email.
- If you have an Australia Post eParcel contract you can add your own Australia Post API key, and tracking updates are fetched automatically. Without one, tracking links still open the parcel on auspost.com.au.
- Shipping prices come from the rates you set. Vendora Genie does not fetch live postage quotes from carriers.
Point of sale
On plans that include it, you can connect a Square account and import its catalogue, matching products by SKU. Square is the only point-of-sale system supported today. Payment terminals such as Tyro and Zeller are payment providers rather than catalogue systems, so there is nothing to sync from them.
